This is the finished puzzle box. I purchased the plans for a few bucks at homepage.ntlworld.com . Great detailed plans. The small puzzle box wasn’t suck, I just forgot a few steps to open it. Check my videos soon for a series of videos showing how to build a high quality cigar humidor using mahogany or the wood of your choice. Sorry the video ends abruptly,.. ran out of memory on the card.

@kraigseder could you send me the plans for this for free

Love your work!

love the humidor

@47mustang – The first oak puzzle box is Cyrus Redblock. The plans are available for a few bucks and the site link is in the description. The smaller, easier puzzle box is a modified match box puzzle box. Those plans are for given for free on the same website.

was wondering if there are any plans for the first one that you showed to us and were did you get them would love to build these contact me back thanks

@bigheadchau – I have a few books, but the one I would recommend the most is Tauntons Complete Illustrated Guide to Box Making by Doug Stowe. This is a great book with several different techniques. This book gave me the confidence to make my mahogany humidor and go on to other projects.
The main thing is just to start making boxes. Most of your real learning will come through making mistakes and figuring out how to fix or hide your mistakes. Some of my best boxes started out as disasters.

hi, I was just wondering you mentioned online tutorials and books, any hints on which are the most usefull? by the way you’ve got a fellow cigar a knife lover here! thanks for giving me the confidence to start woodworking!

@hellerZauberer – I did use a table saw for the cuts.

Did you make the cuts by hand, or using a table saw or some other power saw?

@GamerKramer – The larger puzzle box is Cyrus Redblock. The plans for this box is only a few dollars and well worth the money and I like supporting his site. The smaller easier puzzle box is a variation of the match box design which is free on his site. I have the link to the site in the video description.

What specific plan did you use in the making of this puzzle box? I may be making one soon and this one might be a good start.

@melsjr I just corrected the link in the video description. It looks like his site changed a bit and the page I was linking to was removed.

i can’t open the website for the plan anymore plz responde!:D

Great, thanks for the response, I’m about to buy a plan off that website and go to the hardware tomorrow. =]

@bangbusbonanza – Thanks and glad you liked the video. Yes, the main thing is to try and don’t worry if you make a mistake… because probably will. I always do but find creative ways to fix my mistakes.

I do have a another puzzle box I’ve been wanting to do. When I build it, hopefully in the very near future, I’ll take video of each step. The steps I take in this next puzzle build will apply to all puzzle box builds. I’ve found techniques in this last build that will help in my future builds.

Honestly, this has inspired me to start a puzzle box build, would LOVE if you could do some step by step videos on how to make one, maybe you could even put your own designs in it! like a wooden number combination or something!
